Did politician just say veterans are traitors?
November 1, 2009
In case you were wondering, state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Butler, has no plans to quit the state House — no matter what those nasty Pittsburgh radio ads recommend that he do.
”The sponsors of this ad are attacking me because my comments have exposed that Operation Free’s radical leftist agenda has absolutely nothing to do with America’s national security, energy independence or protecting our environment, but is a direct attack on our Constitution,” Metcalfe said in a press release.
In case you’re wondering who or what Operation Free is, let us remind you:
Metcalfe recently stirred up some controversy when he suggested that U.S. veterans working with an activist group called Operation Free were ”traitors” because they were promoting the ”leftist” agenda of climate change.
This confused us, because even though we’re pretty sure that polar ice caps cleave to the left and right when they melt, causing global sea levels to rise, we weren’t sure how veterans were ”traitors” for wanting to make sure the planet is in decent shape.
Luckily, Metcalfe was there to explain it to us:
”Any veteran lending their name to promote the leftist propaganda of global warming and climate change, in an effort to control more of the wealth created in the U.S. economy, through cap-and-tax type policies, is a traitor to the oath he or she took to defend the Constitution of our great nation,” he said.
Metcalfe’s comments leave us no choice but to issue this plea to House and Senate leaders:
Please, please, please come up with a deal on table games so Metcalfe will have an actual issue to complain about.
