CARBONDALE – A Carbondale veteran appears in a national advertising campaign addressing the issue of dependence on foreign oil.

Chris Miller was a sergeant in the Fourth Battalion-27th Field Artillery unit in the First Armored Division and two-tour Iraq War veteran.

He appears in a television advertisement for Operation Free, an organization pushing for clean energy alternatives that will break the nation’s dependence on foreign oil.

Laura Britton, press secretary for Operation Free, said the coalition of veterans and national security organizations aims to break dependence on foreign oil because they believe money spent on oil is funding terrorism.
