The sweet and innocent cupcake is at the forefront of Operation Free’s latest print ad and is a Reed Award winner for the Best Newspaper Ad of 2011. On Friday, Campaigns and Elections awarded The Truman National Security Project three Reed Awards; the cupcake ad took home the trophy for Best Newspaper Ad of 2011. The ad ran in the San Diego Union-Tribune as a part of Operation Free’s efforts to support the 54.5 fuel economy standards. Every day, one billion dollars leaves the U.S. for foreign countries, many of whom do not have America’s best interest at heart. By increasing fuel economy standards, less oil will need to be imported — meaning fewer US dollars lining the pockets of out advisories.
