Last month, the United States Department of Defense announced the completion of a study which investigated solar development on U.S. military bases in California. The study, which investigated four bases, concluded that if pursued such developments would provide “7000 Megwatts (MW) of solar energy–equivalent to the output of seven nuclear power plants…”

Construction of such solar development could generate up to 100 Million a year in federal revenue, and would also make the bases self sufficient by allowing a military base to “maintain its critical operations “off-grid” for weeks or months if the grid is disrupted.”The study highlights the potential for greater energy independence through the usage of resources we have right here in the United States, making for a stronger, safer America.
